How do you know the Marlins didn't call and inquire?

Ok, we should get Chris Seddon back and then call every team and see if they will trade us their best player for Chris Seddon.
Also, I am curious how you know we didn't inquire about certain guys? Also, there are times where teams make it clear what they are looking for, if you have nothing that resembles that or are not willing to give up what does resemble that, there isn't always a point unless you want to look like a joke and have other front offices dislike doing business with you.

Okay, so there are never dumb deals made. Do you really think that the Fish wouldnt have gotten more from someone else for Willy and Olsen? You don't think we could have done better then Emilio?
I'm just saying it means a little more if I found out that the Fish were in the Halladay sweepstakes. It shows they care.

No reason to be in the Halladay sweepstakes... we can't afford him
Same goes for Lee, same goes for Holliday

Didnt the Athletics pick up the rest of Holliday's contract? If you mean we couldnt afford to pay him whatever he is going to make in Arby next year, i would agree.
Edit - Looks like STL still has to cover 4.5 mil of the 6 million that Holliday is owed.

Does you having no information either way on whether or not they were in the "sweepstakes" show that they do not care?

Really is hard to do anything when you are financially hand cuffed.

"Jayson Stark at ESPN says that the Phillies are now balking at the Blue Jays' asking price, which was formally presented Thursday as J.A. Happ, Kyle Drabek and Dominic Brown. It's believed they're hoping to substitute Carlos Carrasco for one of Happ or Drabek, particularly Drabek."
If they do get Halladay I hope they suck that minor system dry.

If the Marlins were in on Holliday, that's a good sign they at least realize they need a bat and are putting forth an effort to address that need.

I am glad they were in on it but it all comes down to actually making a move. I do realize it is much more difficult for us to get something done because of our situation but if we don't make any moves to improve our offense and maybe getting a decent SP then I don't see us competing for the wild card with our current team.

1:04pm: According to MLB.com's Jordan Bastian, the Phillies have formally rejected the Blue Jays' proposal. Philadelphia is reportedly opposed to giving up both Drabek and Happ.
12:43pm: Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi at FOX Sports are reporting that the Angels have "intensified their bid" for Halladay. The Jays are said to be asking for one player from the Halos' major-league roster and "another who could make an impact in 2010."
Additionally, Jays officials are said believe Halladay's past two brilliant outings make their recent offers "reasonable." Sources don't believe a deal will be completed this weekend.
